Council 12686 is Winning National Awards
Our council has won the "Columbian Award" for four straight years, being acknowledged by the national Supreme Council for our very active program which meets the extensive requirements for the award. We also won the most-prestigious "Star Council Award" for 2020-2021 and are on track to earn it this year for 2021-2022.
Activites submitted for the award in the 2021-2022 Fraternal Year are:
Faith Programs
- Sponsored a seminarian for a 3rd year as he continues his studies
- Lead a Rosary for Healing in the Parish Church on the 1st Monday of every month
- Gave gifts of KC Rosary and special Confirmation Prayer cards to the Confirmation candidates
- Members attended and helped host the Archdiocese of New Orleans Men's Conference at SCS
Family Programs
- Sponsored Consecration to the Holy Family at all Masses and gave out prayer cards
- Sponsored a Keep Christ in Christmas billboard in our area (donation)
- Promoted family attendance at Good Friday Passion of Christ services
- Printed Grandparent's Prayer Cards and distributed them at "Grandparents Day" Masses
Community Programs
- Prepared meals for 24 families at Hotel Hope (for abused women and their children)
- Sponsored a Free Throw contest in our Parish school as part of a statewide competition....58 participants
- Collected coats for kids as part of a community product at Christmas with a TV station
- Hosted a Mass and Reception for Jefferson Parish First Responders (Police, Fire and EMS)
Life Programs
- Held Novena for Life for 9 nights in Parish Church ending with Rosary on anniversary of Roe v Wade
- Collected cash and baby supplies at all Masses and donated them to local pregnancy center
- Sponsored a March for Life prayer session surrounding the area abortion clinic
In addition to these programs submitted for the awards, we
- Hosted a Clergy Appreciation Dinner to honor SCS priests and deacons
- Attended mass a a group, every three months, and hosted "donut social" afterward
- hosted/seated guests from around the Archdiocese at Archbishop Aymond'
"Order of St. Louis" presentations
- Cooked at the annual party at the Notre Dame Seminary
- Made a large donation towards obtaining a new outdoor statue of the Blessed Mother, Mary
We had 'funraisers' to help build the SCS parish community while earning money for programs
- Summer: BBQ Dinner
- Fall: Jambalaya Dinner
- Lent: Friday Lenten Dinners (2)
