Roll Call: Meeting opened at 7:45PM. Excused
absences: Recorder Jim Gedicke, and 1st, 2nd, 3rd
Trustees.
Reading
of the minutes was dispensed. Minutes may be seen on our website or read by
individuals after this meeting.
Chaplain Msgr. Roger Swenson: Thanks
to this council for activities during
Corpus Christi
procession, the Mass Schedule sign, and the on-going preparations for the Blue
Mass (5-21-06). Msgr. asked what progress the council has made on the pledge for
the Adoration Chapel of the Holy innocents. Grand Knight Mickey Lacombe
announced this pledge obligation has been met. Lacombe and Swenson agreed
the presentation would be accomplished at the Installation of Officers this
summer. Another Day of Recollection could be scheduled next year involving new
young priests.
Treasurer Ron Altobello: Treasury $9,907.60. Fish
Fry $1,848 (gross), $616.25 (net)
Financial Secretary Jerry Madere: Reported on
printing, mailing Grand Knight letter, and various other expenses. Two payments
of $125 were given to Fr. Nick Pericone’s ministry.
Deputy Grand Knight Paul Bates: Reported Day of
Recollection, Stations of the Cross, by Fr. Nick Pericone (13 attending),
Rosary & Quarterly Communion were successful. Knights are needed for each
Mass to distribute palms on Palm Sunday in the procession from the Melancon
center. Four Knights are needed for carrying the canopy on Holy Thursday,
several are needed for the Washing of the Feet. On Good Friday three Knights are
needed for the Veneration of the Cross ceremony. The Feast of St Catherine of
Siena
will be celebrated 4-29-06, 4:00PM Mass. Some speculation was made regarding a
display of a 1st Class relic of St. Catherine owned by our parish and
4th Degree in regalia. Preparations for the Blue Mass require
advertisement in the T-P, School Bulletin, and Church Bulletin, Knights needed
as ushers, greeters (procession from
Melancon
Center
), parking lot attendants, food preparation, Reader, Cantor, and other
requirements. Boy Scouts are needed for color guard. Plans should begin for
celebrating Fr. Nick’s 10th Anniversary as a priest, 5-25-06.
Tentative plans are being made for a “blitz’ membership drive and crawfish
boil at Brother George Comeaux’s house,

Right to Life Chairman Bob Borne: Picketing needed
at the abortion clinic, 2nd Saturdays of each month. Next is 4-8-06.
On 4-21-06 on the riverboat

, there will be a benefit for the Women’s
New
Life
Center
to raise funds to replace damaged ultra-sound machines.
Lecturer Ken Krey: There are no lecturers scheduled
because of time restrictions of meetings. Need about 20 names for more
participation of the prayers for vocations (Prayer Crosses).
District Deputy Joe Welch: Our council is in “good
standing”. Rene Pelane (460-2861), District Deputy Area A, will be our new
District Deputy after 7-1-06. State Secretary Donald Fontenot and Supreme
requests two representatives from our council to the State Convention,

. Fees to Supreme and State must be paid before delegates will be accepted.
Archbishop Alfred Hughes celebrates Mass. Major degree exemplification 4-02-06,
River Ridge. Our entrants for the Free Throw Contest have been eliminated.
Grand Knight Mickey
Lacombe: The “Blue Mass” for
first responders is scheduled 11:00AM Mass, 5-21-06, breakfast follows in
Barrett Complex. Council will support Radio Rosary ($600/6 months) and this
event will be this Thursday, 6:00PM,
Melancon
Center
. Cathy Valerio announced the event for Altar Servers has been cancelled for
this year. Speculation about a fund-raiser at the House of Broel, a donation
from Brother Ric Rodriguez was discussed. A menu for the Blue Mass is needed.
Supreme and State visits to Katrina damage left them in awe.
Good of the Order: Intentions were stated for Bob
Dillenkoffer, Neighbor of Bob Borne, the son of Bob Farmer and some State
Officials. Prayers were said.
