Knights of Columbus Meeting Minutes from March 7, 2005
Our Grand Knight, Ric Rodriquez opened the meeting at 7:39 PM.
Chaplain’s Report:
Assistant Chaplain Charley Favret said that the Archbishop’s dedication
of the Chapel of the Holy Innocents went well.
Membership:
George Comeaux welcomed two new transfer members: Craig Singletary and
Fritz Daly. Craig has been a Knight
since the mid 90s at St. Joseph’s Church on Tulane Ave.
His wife teaches at SCS. Fritz
Daly was a Knight in Texas. He has
moved to the area to be closer to his family.
His daughter is Brother Knight Mark Landry’s wife, Jane Landry. There will be a first degree this Wednesday at Seelos
Council. George will try to get
Father Gabriel to go to that one.
Treasurer’s Report:
We have $6,097.72 in our checking account.
15 Brother Knights have contributed $702.24 into our 2005 portion of the
Chapel Fund.
Financial Secretary:
Jerry Madere reported dues income of $200.
We made a small profit of around $30 from pancakes at the blood drive. We
paid $302 to the state and bought stamps.
Right To Life:
Bob Borne asked that we pray for the life of Terry Schiavo in Florida.
Grand Knight’s Report:
Ric thanked Joe Chryssoverges
and all who helped at the recent Climb-Max altar servers’ party.
He thanked Paul Bates and
all who helped at the recent the free throw contest. He thanked all who helped at our successful Lenten Fish Fry.
Ric announced that there would be an Archdiocesan Mass for Vocations at
10:30 AM at St. Louis Cathedral on April 17th. He thanked Dennis Couvilion, Ron
Altobello, and Jerry Madere for their work in getting us insurance coverage.
St. Patrick’s Day Booth:
We discussed our food booth for the March 13th St. Patrick’s
Parade. Jerry Madere says we have
all our permits. He thanked Dennis
Couvilion for having his secretary go to Baton Rouge to pick up our beer permit
at the last minute. He thanked Ron
Altobello for getting 30 cases of bottled water donated to our Council.
Ken Krey is working on getting donated hot dogs.
Mickey Lacombe will provide some big ice chests and tie wraps.
Kreig White donated a box of latex gloves. We discussed frozen precooked chicken patties from Dennis
Couvilion. We’ll have work crews
scheduled for Sat. March 12th at 9:00 AM and 8:00 on parade day.
Blue Mass: The
date for our next Blue Mass will be June 12th.
We had a small discussion.
New Business: We
confirmed our quarterly communion date for Mother’s Day this year.
Ron Altobello said that there will be workshops announced in the near
future for Eucharistic Ministers and Lecturers.
District Deputy:
Joe Welch announced upcoming dates.
Former District Deputy Walter Ladderer is hospitalized with possible
heart attack and double pneumonia.
Meeting ended at 8:19 PM with prayers for the
Good of our Order. We prayed for
our Charter Member Brother Jimmy Daigre, Paul Bate’s father, Perry
Giambroni’s grandmother, Jerry Madere’s daughter, Don Wheat, Fr. Gabriel,
Fr. Kinney, Pope John Paul II, and the men and women in the military
